Frequently asked

Quick answers, before you call.

How often should I get a skin check?

Annual for fair-skinned, family history of melanoma, or significant sun exposure. Every 2 years for everyone else.

Is a skin check bulk-billed?

Skin checks themselves attract a small gap. Procedures (biopsies, excisions) can be bulk-billed in many cases — ask reception.

Will the dermatoscope hurt?

No — it's just a magnifying lens with a light. Painless, contact-free.

How long is a full-body skin check?

Around 30 minutes — head to toe with a dermoscope, documenting spots of interest, discussing any findings with you in the same visit.

If you find a melanoma, what happens?

Same-day biopsy where possible, urgent specialist referral, and we coordinate the surgical excision and follow-up — no waiting list.

Should I undress completely?

Underwear stays on. We examine systematically with appropriate draping and your comfort is always the priority.
